By anyone for anyone
The rituals of Pind Daan and Sharad in Indian tradition honor not only human loved ones but also pets, acknowledging the deep bonds we share with them. The ancient tale of Jatayu, a noble bird who sacrificed his life for Lord Ram and Sita, illustrates how connections transcend species. Through these sacred rituals, we offer love, gratitude, and respect for our departed pets, ensuring their peaceful transition and honoring the joy they brought into our lives, just as Lord Ram honored Jatayu with Pind Daan.
Why Fire?
It is said that our Pitars (ancestors) once approached Lord Brahma with concerns that the offerings made to them during Pitru Paksha were often too abundant, leaving them uncertain about how to receive everything. Brahma advised them to seek the help of Agni, the fire god, who agreed to accept the first meal offered during the rituals. From that moment on, it became customary to offer the first portion of food to the fire, ensuring that it reaches the ancestors in its purest form.
Why Crow?
According to ancient scriptures, Kaka Bhusandi was a wise crow who gained immense knowledge and wisdom over countless lifetimes. He is often portrayed as a first time traveler, witnessing the changes in the world and learning from different eras. Crows are also closely associated with Yama, the god of death and the afterlife. Yama is responsible for guiding souls to their next destination after death. It is believed that crows are blessed by Lord Ram, and act as intermediaries between the living and the dead, carrying our messages and offerings.

Why Devprayag?
Devprayag, a historic and spiritual town in Garhwal, Uttarakhand, is where the River Ganges originates from the merging of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers. According to stories, Lord Rama meditated here to find solace, and the town is deeply connected to the story of King Sagara and his descendant Bhagirath. Bhagirath’s quest to bring the Ganges from heaven to purify his ancestors ashes led to the river’s sacred status. Devprayag, with its serene environment and spiritual practices, especially during winters, it is also home to the priests of Brahma Kapal, a revered site for performing ancestral rites and seeking peace for departed souls in Badrinath.
